Treating men with male pelvic pain, athletic pelvic pain, hard flaccid syndrome, erectile dysfunction, sporting hip and groin, post prostatectomy urinary leakage and post prostatectomy erectile dysfunction are our priority in our 2 Men's health physiotherapy clinics in Harborne and Kings Heath , Birmingham , UK. Lisa, myself ( Gerard ) and Konstantionos now run a 5 day service of men's health physiotherapy and some saturdays although we do need a day off for family fun and self care. We are one of the few clinics anywhere to have 3 male pelvic health physios and to deliver a 5 day men's health clinic.
In addition to the clinical work we do we are also heavily involved in encouraging other physiotherapists and clinics/ departments to get further involved in men's health and we love working with our good friend and esteemed colleague Jo Millios ( Perth, Western Australia ) in this advocacy work. We are excited about meeting up with Jo at the World Congress of Physical Therapy in Geneva in May 2019. We are presenting some Coventry university research done by Jessica on the best phrases to get the male pelvic floor muscles working in our post prostate surgery men. We are big fans of #nutstoguts as our men don't like shorten the penis because the prostate cancer surgery already shortens the penis and men don't want to be constantly reminded of this by telling them to "shorten the penis". Our research looks at both phrases.
We are teaching 3 Introductory Male Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Courses in 2019 as follows:
Sligo , Ireland : Sat/Sunday 30/31st March 2019 ( 3 places left )
Birmingham UK: Saturday / Sunday 27/28th April 2019 ( 8 places left )
Washington DC: Friday / Sat/Sunday 12-14th July 2019 ( approx 1/3 full pre advertising / marketing launch in USA )
Our focus is always the men we treat in the clinics in Birmingham as we are #tutorswhotreat but it always an honour to be invited to teach also and ensure that more men will get the help they need.
