Introduction to Pregnancy and Post Natal Physiotherapy : New Hybrid course

This new hybrid and innovative   two day course   is designed for Musculoskeletal, Sports  and Women’s health Physios, Chiros, Osteopaths and Sports Therapists who want to learn more about  the assessment , treatment and management of pregnancy related conditions.

 

All of the course theory ( equivalent day 1 ) will be sent to you approx 3 weeks before the course which you will be able to study in your own time. Day 2 will be in our Birmingham Pregnancy, Post-Natal Physiotherapy clinic and will consist of face to face teaching of hands on practical techniques and also interactive discussion.

 

Participants  on this Course will cover:

 

  • Assessment of the Pregnant Patient for common conditions
  • Pelvic Girdle Pain: Effective ways of reducing pain and increasing function
  • Using Dynamic Taping in the Ante and Post Natal periods
  • External assessment of the Pelvic floor
  • Assessing and treating Urinary incontinence, constipation, Pelvic and low back pain
  • Getting confident about discussing the effects of pregnancy on sexual activity
  • Breath control and why it's so important
  • Rectus Diastasis: What's the most effective way to treat this
  • Using Ultrasound imaging in the assessment and treatment of Rectus diastasis and abdominal, breath rehab
  • Using trans abdominal Ultrasound Imaging in the assessment and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction
  • Safe return to sport post natally

 

 

 

 

Tutors:

Mr Gerard Greene Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Specialist and Pelvic Health Physiotherapist , International Dynamic Tape Tutor, Men's Health Physio, Ultrasound Imaging in Pelvic Health Tutor.

Gerard has delivered this course on many occasions  in UK, Turkey, Japan. He has also taught for the South African, Japanese and American Physiotherpy professional bodies. He has also delivered the 1st pregnancy and pelvic health course for the UK special interest group in musculoskeletal physiotherapy ( MACP ). He has taught on the Mummy MOT programme for Maria Elliot. His clinical work in pelvic health is in Birmingham and London and he is also an associate professor of Physiotherapy in Coventry University . 

 

Tutor: Sarah Marsh, women’s health physiotherapist, yoga teacher and wellbeing presenter and coach. Sarah has presented on multiple female pelvic health related topics for physiotherapists and health professionals .

Her clinical work is London based and she is also experienced at teaching yoga, training health professionals around clinical yoga and teaching on yoga teacher trainer courses.

Sarah works with women to ensure healthy ageing at all life stages. She is passionate about educating women on pelvic health Sarah presents and coaches in the UK and internationally on wellbeing; stress, sleep and managing menopause
