FREE event for physiotherapists – advance registration required
Pelvic health is evolving rapidly — but some of the best learning does not happen in a lecture theatre or on another webinar.
It happens when clinicians get together, share ideas, ask questions and talk about what they are seeing in practice.
Pelvic Health After Hours is a free, informal evening for physiotherapists who want to learn more about pelvic health, meet other clinicians working in the field and make new professional connections.
Hosted by Maria Elliott and Gerard Greene, with special guest Paula Allchorne, the evening will bring together three complementary areas of expertise:
Female Pelvic Health • Male Pelvic Health • Psychosexual Health
Expect short, practical talks, open discussion, questions and plenty of time to network and connect face-to-face.
This event is for physiotherapists at any stage of their pelvic health journey — whether you already work in the specialty, are thinking about moving into pelvic health, occasionally see pelvic health patients in another area of practice, or are simply curious to learn more.
You do not need to be an experienced pelvic health physiotherapist to attend.
Rather than three long lectures, each speaker will share a short, accessible presentation from their own area of specialist practice, followed by discussion and networking.
Maria Elliott – Female Pelvic Health
Maria is a highly experienced pelvic health physiotherapist and Clinical Director of The Mummy MOT.
Her work has helped establish The Mummy MOT as a leading name in postnatal and pelvic health care, with a collaborative clinical team of more than 10 pelvic health physiotherapists.
Maria has particular clinical interests in pelvic pain, pre- and postnatal rehabilitation, postnatal fitness and improving access to pelvic health treatment. Her work combines specialist physiotherapy, rehabilitation and innovative approaches to supporting women throughout pregnancy, postnatal recovery and beyond.
Maria will share perspectives from her extensive experience within female pelvic health and the development of specialist pelvic health services.
Gerard Greene – Male Pelvic Health
Gerard is a specialist Men’s Health Physiotherapist and Assistant Professor of Physiotherapy at Coventry University.
He leads London Men’s Health Physiotherapy and Birmingham Men’s Health Physiotherapy, working with men presenting with a wide range of pelvic health problems including prostate cancer rehabilitation, urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, persistent pelvic and perineal pain, pudendal neuralgia, sexual dysfunction and complex pelvic floor disorders.
Gerard teaches Men’s Health Physiotherapy nationally and internationally and is passionate about raising the profile of a part of physiotherapy that can still be largely invisible to both patients and healthcare professionals.
His presentation will explore the developing role of physiotherapy within men’s pelvic health and why awareness of these conditions matters across the wider profession.
Paula Allchorne – Psychosexual & Relationship Specialist
Paula is a highly experienced urology clinician, leader and educator with more than 29 years of experience across the full spectrum of urology.
She is Lead Urology Nurse at Barts Health NHS Trust and has also joined the GIRFT Urology Leadership Team as Urology Associate Nurse for England, contributing to national service improvement and the implementation of best practice across urological care.
Paula has held senior international leadership roles within the European Association of Urology Nurses, including serving for three years as President, and has taught and presented internationally across the UK, Europe, Middle East, Hong Kong and China.
Importantly for this evening, Paula is also a qualified Psychosexual and Relationship Specialist, bringing together expertise in urology, andrology, sexual health and psychosexual care.
She will explore the relationship between pelvic health, sexual function, intimacy and wellbeing — and why effective pelvic healthcare often requires us to look beyond the purely physical symptoms.
So much professional education and networking now happens online.
Webinars and online learning are incredibly useful, but they cannot completely replace being in the same room as other clinicians.
We want to create a relaxed space where physiotherapists can meet colleagues, hear different perspectives, ask questions, exchange ideas and build relationships across the pelvic health community.
No full day course.
No long programme of lectures.
No pressure.
Just an interesting evening of pelvic health, conversation and connection.
And we hope this will be the first of a series of Pelvic Health After Hours events.
