The South African Society of Physiotherapy is delighted to host Jo & Gerard to introduce our physiotherapists to this field of practice.

 

This 2 day Introductory Men’s Health Physiotherapy course will focus on the Prostate Cancer Patient with urinary & erectile dysfunction and the Male Pelvic pain patient:

  • Designed for Male & Female Physios who want to develop/update their interest in Men’s Health Physiotherapy
  • Suitable for all physios including those with a Women’s Health, Musculoskeletal or Sports background
  • Will equip you to start working with male pelvic patients and to develop a new role or service.

 

Content:

  • Male Pelvic Floor anatomy , function and dysfunction
  • Management of Urinary Incontinence & Erectile Dysfunction in Radical Prostatectomy patients: an expanding role for Physiotherapists
  • Internal Examination in Men’s Health Physiotherapy
  • Introduction to Assessment & Management of Male Pelvic Pain
  • How do develop a Men’s Health Physiotherapy service & role

 

Course presenters:

Mrs Jo Millios is an internationally leading Men's Health Physiotherapist based in Western Australia. She has over 12 years’ experience of working solely in Men's Health and has treated over 2000 Prostatectomy patients. She is currently completing a PhD in the role of Physiotherapy in Prostate Cancer. Jo has presented widely on Men's Health Physiotherapy in Australia with her "Martian" colleagues & at WCPT 2015. She has also taught Prostate courses in UK, Ireland, & Portugal. She is co-chairing a Focused Symposium at WCPT2017 on Men’s Health.

 

Mr Gerard Greene is an experienced musculoskeletal & Men’s health physio and is based in the UK. He works in male pelvic pain & also pelvic floor dysfunction in sport in his own clinic and in Dr Ruth Jones’ clinic. He has established one of the few new pelvic health physio clinics in the UK and has experience in developing the role and service of Men’s health Physiotherapy. He is also presenting at WCPT 2017. He has previously taught on The Athletic Pelvic floor and US imaging in Pelvic health.
